The Robbenoordbos is a forest north of Wieringerwerf and south of Den Oever, it is located about one kilometer north of the Dijkgatbos. The first trees were planted between 1934 and 1941 because the soil seemed unsuitable for agriculture. Little is left of these trees today after the Germans blew up the dike in World War II, flooding the area. After 1945, the forest was recreated and slowly grew together with the Dijkgatbos. Together, both forests cover about 600 hectares. In the fall of 2007, the province of Noord-Holland started merging the two forests.
